With 71% of the Matazem – Welcome to Bamenda section completed as at 16 September 2024, the reconstruction of the Babadjou – Bamenda road is progressing well.
Progress has been observed on this 18-km-long section, which is an extension of the Babadjou – Matazem route, despite the heavy rainfall during the past weeks. Bun’s, the company in charge, is focusing on the operations that can easily be carried out. Cleaning and clearing of the right of way, as well as works on the subgrade course are complete along the 18 km making up this road section. While the sub-base course laid covers 16.2 km out of 18 km, bituminous-bound graded aggregates have been implemented over 13.2 km.
The company has started laying the bituminous concrete wearing course which is already done over 1.5 km. Box culverts have all been built, while masonry ditches are constructed over 6.2 out of 14.4 km so far.
Concerning related works, the development of the 23.5-km-long road between Mile 11, Lake Awing, Farmers Potatoes Warehouse, Catholic School Afuh, Awing Market, GHS Mewungne and Three Corners Awing is estimated at 27.3% as at 16 September 2024.
