The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel NGANOU DJOUMESSI, is on a working visit to the Far North region with his close collaborators of the Ministry The visit which began Sunday, April 2, 2023, aims to assess the work progress of ongoing road projects and to examine the study that has been adopted in other ongoing projects.
This aims to sustain roads to thwart climate change in the Far North region, Another motive of the visit is to look at issues that relate to the reconstruction of the Mora-Dabanga-Kousseri axis and to identify specific problems related to the execution of projects in this region as well as proffer solutions to such issues. The working visit continued this Monday with the minister’s gist stopping at the newly constructed 120-meter bridge at Mayo Limani. The bridge links Cameron and Nigeria. The contract was handed over to COMAR Sarl.
This Monday, April 2, 2023. According to the presentation made by the Head of the ECTA BTP control mission, the operations before provisional acceptance which has been done, the work is effected through the execution of other services and including the demolition of 40ml by 120ml, In addition, sanitation work on the access roads and protection of the embankments, as well as earthworks and development of the access roads to the bridge over 700 mo. The geometric factors of the structure illustrated the bridge with a length of 120 ml; 12 spans away from the bridge, with a width of 03ml and a sidewalk width of 2×1.00 ml. The works entrusted to the company COMAR are financed by the public investment budgets of the MINTP (50%) and MINEPAT (50%) for 2021 to date.
The Minister of Public Works congratulated the teams of the company, the control mission, and the MINTP for the efficient realization of the point being completed. He said the bridge will last for a very long time due to the durable material used in building the facility. He has however given firm instructions to customs officers present to be vigilant on heavy-loaded trucks plying the road. He has insisted that no heavy-loaded truck should be allowed to cross the bridge while overloaded.
Looking at the spectrum of projects in the Far North, it will help the people in both social and economic aspects, it will help improve the livelihood of the people in their specific localities in the Far North region. A meeting was held after the site inspection with the regional and divisional officials of the Ministry of Public Works of the Far North region.
